Intended Use

The KLS Martin Rigid Fixation - Sterile is intended to provide KLS Martin's osteosynthesis products in sterile packaging. These products have been previously cleared for sale and providing them sterile does not change the already cleared intended use.

Device Story

KLS Martin Rigid Fixation - Sterile consists of titanium plates, titanium screws, stainless steel twist drills, and stainless steel sonotrode tips provided in sterile packaging. Device functions as mechanical hardware for bone stabilization in oral-maxillo-cranio-facial surgery. Components are identical to previously cleared KLS-Martin systems; primary modification is the provision of these components in sterile packaging via gamma radiation. Used by surgeons in clinical settings to fixate bone fragments. Output is the physical stabilization of bone structures; clinical benefit is the maintenance of bone alignment during healing.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. No clinical data provided. Equivalence established through design and manufacturing identity to previously cleared predicates and validation of sterilization process.

Technological Characteristics

Materials: Titanium (plates/screws), stainless steel (drills/sonotrode tips). Sterilization: Gamma radiation. Form factor: Various shapes/thicknesses of plates and lengths/diameters of screws/drills. No software or electronic components.

Indications for Use

Indicated for stabilization and fixation of mandibular fractures, mandibular reconstruction, and rigid internal fixation of oral-maxillo-cranio-facial bones. Used to stabilize fractured bone structures by anchoring plates to bone segments with screws to prevent movement. Prescription use.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

A bone plate is a metal device intended to stabilize fractured bone structures in the oral cavity. The bone segments are attached to the plate with screws to prevent movement of the segments.
