## Intended Use

The Interproximal Reduction System is intended for use as a method of achieving interproximal reduction of teeth.

## Device Story

The Interproximal Reduction System is an air-driven, low-speed dental handpiece with an integrated contra-angle head. It is designed for use by dental professionals in a clinical setting. The device operates by powering abrasive strips to perform interproximal reduction, stripping, polishing, or tooth preparation. By mechanically removing small amounts of enamel between teeth, the device creates space to facilitate the proper fitting of orthodontic appliances like aligners, brackets, and retainers. The clinician manually guides the handpiece to achieve the desired reduction, directly impacting the orthodontic treatment plan and patient dental alignment.

## Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only.

## Technological Characteristics

Air-driven low-speed motor with integrated contra-angle head. Mechanical actuation for abrasive strip operation. Standard dental handpiece form factor. No electronic or software components.

## Regulatory Identification

A dental handpiece and accessories is an AC-powered, water-powered, air-powered, or belt-driven, hand-held device that may include a foot controller for regulation of speed and direction of rotation or a contra-angle attachment for difficult to reach areas intended to prepare dental cavities for restorations, such as fillings, and for cleaning teeth.
