Device Story

Synthes Scout Tack Fixation is a single-use titanium alloy (TAN) tack used to secure the Scout Vessel Guard to lumbar vertebral bone. The tack features a low-profile head and helical geometry for bone purchase. It is inserted via light impaction through the vessel guard into the bone. Used by surgeons during anterior vertebral surgery as an alternative or complement to suturing. The device provides mechanical fixation of the vessel guard, ensuring it remains in place over vessels during the procedure. Benefits include simplified, secure attachment of the protective guard.

No clinical data. Substantial equivalence supported by non-clinical bench testing including pullout testing, dynamic mechanical testing, and dynamic biomechanical testing, supplemented by usability testing in cadaver labs.

You may, therefore, market the device, subject to the general controls provisions of the Act and the limitations described below.
