Intended Use

The catheter is indicated for electrophysiological mapping of cardiac structures in adult patients; i.e., stimulation and recording only.

Device Story

MultiCath and AcQRate Dx Fixed Curve Catheters are pre-shaped multipolar catheters used for sensing intracardiac signals and diagnostic pacing. The device comprises a catheter body with a distal curve, an array of platinum/iridium electrodes, and a proximal multipolar connector. Used in clinical electrophysiology labs, the device is operated by qualified medical personnel in conjunction with an external electrophysiological investigation and recording system. The catheter is inserted into the patient to map cardiac structures; the electrodes transmit electrical signals to the recording system or deliver pacing stimuli. Healthcare providers use the recorded intracardiac signals to diagnose cardiac arrhythmias or guide electrophysiological procedures. The device is single-use and supplied sterile.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical performance data was submitted or relied upon. Substantial equivalence is supported by bench testing, including dimensional inspection, functional/compatibility testing with external generators, electrical/mechanical testing, biocompatibility (ISO 10993), and sterilization validation (ISO 11135).

Technological Characteristics

Multipolar catheter with platinum/iridium electrodes; 4F, 5F, and 6F diameters; pre-shaped distal curves. Materials meet ISO 10993 biocompatibility standards. Electrical safety complies with IEC 60601-1. Sterilization via ethylene oxide per ISO 11135. Connectivity via multipolar connector to external recording/stimulation systems. Internal braid design for torque control.

Indications for Use

Indicated for electrophysiological mapping of cardiac structures in adult patients for stimulation and recording purposes.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

An electrode recording catheter or an electrode recording probe is a device used to detect an intracardiac electrocardiogram, or to detect cardiac output or left-to-right heart shunts. The device may be unipolar or multipolar for electrocardiogram detection, or may be a platinum-tipped catheter which senses the presence of a special indicator for cardiac output or left-to-right heart shunt determinations.
