Intended Use
The Attain Hybrid guide wire is intended to aid in the placement of Medtronic transvenous left ventricular leads in the coronary vasculature.
Device Story
Attain Hybrid Guide Wire is a flexible, small-diameter wire used as a track to direct and pass transvenous left ventricular leads into the coronary vasculature. Operated by physicians in a clinical setting, the wire facilitates lead placement by providing a path for the lead to follow. The device is a modification of a predicate, featuring updated PTFE formulation and adjusted tip/distal segment stiffness. It functions as a mechanical guide; it does not involve electronic processing, software, or AI. Clinical benefit is derived from the safe and accurate navigation of leads to the target site within the heart's coronary anatomy.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only. Verification studies included coating adhesion, dimensional verification, tip integrity, tip deflection force, distal tip stiffness, guide wire perforation, seal integrity, lubricity, durability, and torque response. Biocompatibility testing performed per ISO 10993-1 included cytotoxicity, irritation, systemic toxicity, hemocompatibility, thrombosis, pyrogenicity, complement activation, and sensitization. All tests met specified acceptance criteria.
Technological Characteristics
Flexible guide wire; PTFE coating; variable tip and distal segment stiffness. Sterilization validated; shelf life evaluated. Biocompatibility per ISO 10993-1. No electronic components, energy sources, or software.
Indications for Use
Indicated for patients requiring placement of Medtronic transvenous left ventricular leads within the coronary vasculature.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
A catheter guide wire is a coiled wire that is designed to fit inside a percutaneous catheter for the purpose of directing the catheter through a blood vessel.
Special Controls
*Classification.* Class II (special controls). The device, when it is a torque device that is manually operated, non-patient contacting, and intended to manipulate non-cerebral vascular guide wires, is exempt from the premarket notification procedures in subpart E of part 807 of this chapter subject to the limitations in § 870.9.
