Device Story
Pulse oximeter sensors (disposable and reusable finger/ear clips) capture optical signals via PureLight technology; input processed by Nonin X-100 SenSmart Universal Oximetry System; system uses smart chip authentication via Hirose connector; output provides SpO2 and pulse rate data; used in hospitals, EMS, home, and mobile environments by clinicians; aids in patient oxygenation monitoring; benefits include non-invasive, real-time physiological assessment.
Clinical Evidence
Clinical SpO2 accuracy testing conducted on healthy subjects (adults) and neonates (up to 30 days). Compared sensor SpO2 to co-oximetry arterial blood samples across 70-100% SaO2 range. Testing performed in both motion and non-motion conditions (where applicable). All models met acceptance criteria for accuracy (ARMS).
Technological Characteristics
Sensors utilize PureLight optical technology; disposable and reusable form factors (finger/ear clips); Hirose connector with integrated smart chip for system authentication; biocompatible materials per ISO 10993; compliant with IEC 60601-1 (electrical safety), IEC 60601-1-2 (EMC), and ISO 80601-2-61 (performance).
Indications for Use
Indicated for non-invasive spot-checking and/or continuous monitoring of patients (neonates, infants, pediatrics, adults) based on specific model weight ranges; well or poorly perfused; motion and non-motion conditions (varies by model).
Regulatory Classification
Identification
An oximeter is a device used to transmit radiation at a known wavelength(s) through blood and to measure the blood oxygen saturation based on the amount of reflected or scattered radiation. It may be used alone or in conjunction with a fiberoptic oximeter catheter.
