Intended Use

Mepitel is intended for the management of wounds in the granulation phase, especially painful wounds and wounds with newly formed delicate tissue such as pressure ulcers, venous and arterial leg ulcers, diabetic ulcers, surgical incisions, second degree burns, skin abrasions, lacerations, partial and full thickness grafts, and skin tears.

Device Story

Mepitel is a sterile, non-adherent wound dressing designed for managing wounds in the granulation phase. It consists of a medical-grade silicone gel coated onto a polyamide tricot net, protected by a low-density polyethylene release liner. The dressing is applied to the wound site to provide a protective interface for delicate tissue. It is intended for use by healthcare professionals in clinical settings. The device functions as a physical barrier to protect the wound bed without adhering to the wound surface, thereby minimizing trauma during dressing changes. It does not accelerate healing or act as a permanent skin substitute.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Biocompatibility testing was performed in accordance with ISO 10993 Part I (Biological Evaluation of Medical Devices) with FDA modified matrix, confirming the device is non-toxic and non-irritating.

Technological Characteristics

Sterile wound dressing composed of medical-grade silicone gel, polyamide tricot net, and low-density polyethylene release liner. Biocompatibility verified per ISO 10993 Part I. Available in multiple sizes ranging from 5 cm x 7.5 cm to 20 cm x 30 cm.

Indications for Use

Indicated for management of granulation phase wounds, including pressure, venous, arterial, and diabetic ulcers, surgical incisions, second-degree burns, skin abrasions, lacerations, partial/full thickness grafts, and skin tears.
