Intended Use

MEASUREMENT OF TOTAL BODY WATER, INTRA-CELLULAR WATER, EXTRA-CELLULAR WATER AND IMPEDANCE VALUES AT 5 KHZ

Device Story

Bodystat DuelScan 2005 is a dual-frequency monitoring unit used for body composition analysis. Device measures electrical impedance at 5 kHz to estimate total body water, intra-cellular water, and extra-cellular water. Operated by healthcare professionals in clinical settings to assess patient hydration and body composition status. Output provides quantitative impedance and fluid volume data, assisting clinicians in monitoring patient health and nutritional status.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data provided in the document; bench testing only.

Technological Characteristics

Dual-frequency bioelectrical impedance analyzer. Measures impedance at 5 kHz. Class II device (21 CFR 870.2770, Procode 74 MNW).

Indications for Use

Indicated for the measurement of total body water, intra-cellular water, extra-cellular water, and impedance values at 5 kHz in patients requiring body composition analysis.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

An impedance plethysmograph is a device used to estimate peripheral blood flow by measuring electrical impedance changes in a region of the body such as the arms and legs.

Special Controls

*Classification.* Class II (special controls). The device, when it is a body composition analyzer which is not intended to diagnose or treat any medical condition, is exempt from the premarket notification procedures in subpart E of part 807 of this chapter subject to the limitations in § 870.9.
