Device Story

The Heart Protector is a specialized container designed to store and carry a small quantity of sublingual nitroglycerin tablets. It functions as a protective vessel to maintain tablet potency and physical integrity. The device is intended for use by patients who require immediate access to nitroglycerin. It minimizes tablet powdering, protects against rapid temperature fluctuations, and provides resistance to moisture and corrosion. The device is lightweight and portable, allowing patients to carry their medication securely. By preserving the chemical stability and physical form of the tablets, the container ensures that the medication remains effective for patient use when needed.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Stability studies were conducted on nitroglycerin tablets stored in the container under ambient and elevated temperature/humidity conditions. Assay results confirmed tablet potency remained within USP limits. Disintegration testing performed on tablets from the ambient storage study confirmed all samples disintegrated within USP limits.

Technological Characteristics

The device is a portable container designed for sublingual nitroglycerin storage. It is constructed to be moisture-resistant and corrosion-resistant to protect tablet integrity. It does not utilize electronic components, software, or complex sensing mechanisms.

Indications for Use

Indicated for patients requiring a portable container for sublingual nitroglycerin tablets.
