Indications for Use

The principal use for Core-it Dual is as a core material either with adhesives or with pins or posts. Core-it Dual can also be used for: - Luting of abutments to dentures - Splinting of teeth in combination with wires, Kevlar or Ribbond-type materials - Repair material for provisionals - Bite registration material - Build up material for plastic bite rails (occlusal individualisation). - Cement for pins and posts - Semipermanent restorative material (e.g., in childrens' teeth)

Device Story

Core-it Dual is a dual-cured composite resin used by dental professionals for core build-ups and various restorative applications. The material is applied to the tooth structure or used in conjunction with pins, posts, or splinting materials (wires, Kevlar, Ribbond). It functions as a structural build-up or luting agent, providing radiopacity and compressive strength. The dual-cure mechanism allows for polymerization via light-curing or chemical setting. The device is used in a clinical dental setting; the clinician applies the material to restore tooth structure or stabilize dental components. The output is a hardened resin structure that replaces or reinforces tooth material, facilitating subsequent restorative procedures or stabilizing dental appliances. Benefits include improved structural integrity for teeth requiring crowns or bridges and versatility in various restorative and prosthetic workflows.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Performance metrics evaluated include sensitivity to ambient light, color stability, working/setting time, flexural strength, water sorption, solubility, radiopacity, depth of cure, compressive strength, and polymerization shrinkage. Results demonstrate compliance with ISO 4049 and performance comparable or superior to the predicate device.

Technological Characteristics

Dual-cured composite resin; radiopaque. Materials and properties conform to ISO 4049. Available in multiple shades (Yellow, Blue, White). Mechanical properties include high compressive strength and controlled polymerization shrinkage. No software or electronic components.

Indications for Use

Indicated for dental core build-ups, luting of abutments to dentures, splinting of teeth, repair of provisionals, bite registration, build-up of plastic bite rails, cementation of pins/posts, and semipermanent restorations in pediatric patients.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

Tooth shade resin material is a device composed of materials such as bisphenol-A glycidyl methacrylate (Bis-GMA) intended to restore carious lesions or structural defects in teeth.

It has the characteristics of good depth of polymerization, high compressive strength, and radiopaque. Core-it dual has various shades (Yellow, blue, White). Intended Use/Indications for Use 21 CFR 807.92(a)(5) The principal use for Core-it Dual is as a core material either with adhesives or with pins or posts. Core-it Dual can also be used for: - Luting of abutments to dentures - Splinting of teeth in combination with wires, Kevlar or Ribbond-type materials - Repair material for provisionals - Bite registration material - Build up material for plastic bite rails (occlusal individualisation). - Cement for pins and posts - Semipermanent restorative material (e.g., in childrens' teeth) Indications for Use Comparison 21 CFR 807.92(a)(5) {5} The indication for use of the subject device are all included in the indication for use of the predicate device. ## Technological Comparison 21 CFR 807.92(a)(6) Design, material, shape, mechanical, physical properties, labeling, packaging and intended use for Core-it Dual and the predicate devices of the type currently marketed in the U.S. are similar. The difference between Core-it Dual and predicate device is the composition and the slight mechanical and physical characteristics. ## Non-Clinical and/or Clinical Tests Summary & Conclusions 21 CFR 807.92(b) The performance test results (Sensitivity to ambient light, Colour and colour stability, Working time, Setting time, Flexural strength, Water Sorption and Solubility, Radiopacity, and Depth of cure) of the subject device and predicate device meet the requirements of ISO 4049, and the values of those performances were as good as those of the predicate device. Also, the compressive strength value of the subject device was higher than that of the predicate device, and the result of polymerization shrinkage met the criteria. Therefore, it can be considered that our subject device is as safe, effective, and performs as well as or better than the predicate device.
