## Device Story

Grappler Suture Anchor System comprises suture anchors, sutures, and instrumentation for soft tissue-to-bone repair. Anchors are manufactured from PEEK and titanium; sutures consist of UHMWPE and PGLA. System includes line extensions (Mpire and Primatix anchors) featuring smaller diameters, shorter lengths, anchor fork tips, and 2-piece assembly designs. Used by surgeons in clinical settings to reattach soft tissue to bone. Device functions as a mechanical fixation fastener. Clinical benefit derived from secure tissue reattachment during orthopedic procedures.

## Regulatory Identification

A smooth or threaded metallic bone fixation fastener is a device intended to be implanted that consists of a stiff wire segment or rod made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum and stainless steel, and that may be smooth on the outside, fully or partially threaded, straight or U-shaped; and may be either blunt pointed, sharp pointed, or have a formed, slotted head on the end. It may be used for fixation of bone fractures, for bone reconstructions, as a guide pin for insertion of other implants, or it may be implanted through the skin so that a pulling force (traction) may be applied to the skeletal system.

We have reviewed your section 510(k) premarket notification of intent to market the device referenced above and have determined the device is substantially equivalent (for the indications for use stated in the enclosure) to legally marketed predicate devices marketed in interstate commerce prior to May 28, 1976, the enactment date of the Medical Device Amendments, or to devices that have been reclassified in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (the Act) that do not require approval of a premarket approval application (PMA). You may, therefore, market the device, subject to the general controls provisions of the Act. Although this letter refers to your product as a device, please be aware that some cleared products may instead be combination products. The 510(k) Premarket Notification Database available at https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfpmn/pmn.cfm identifies combination product submissions. # **Substantial Equivalence:**

The Grappler Suture Anchor System is substantially equivalent to the legally marketed predicate device systems with respect

to the intended use, principle of operation and fundamental scientific technology.

The purpose of this submission is to add line extension of the Mpire and Primatix anchors. The differences between the subject devices and the predicate device include a smaller diameter and shorter length, incorporation of an anchor fork tip, and a 2-piece assembly design.

**Performance Testing:**

All necessary testing has been performed on representative Grappler Suture Anchor System components to assure substantial equivalence to its predicate and demonstrate the subject device performs as intended. All testing was performed on finished devices. The device performance was characterized via torsional; strength, insertion/removal torque, and static and fatigue tensile testing per ASTM F3690-24. Clinical data is not needed to support the safety and effectiveness of the subject device.

**Conclusions:**

The subject device possesses similar indications for use, technological characteristics, and principles of operation as the predicate. All performance testing conducted for the Grappler Sture Anchor System met the predetermined acceptance criteria. As such, the Grappler Suture Anchor System components are substantially equivalent to the predicate devices for the intended use.
