Indications for Use

It is intended for use in providing fluoroscopic and digital spot images of patient populations during diagnostic, interventional, and surgical procedures.

Device Story

BELLIGER ACE is a fluoroscopic X-ray system providing real-time fluoroscopic and digital spot images for diagnostic, surgical, and interventional procedures. System components include X-ray tube, X-ray tube assembly, X-ray controller, and flat panel detector (FPD). Operated by clinicians in healthcare facilities (inside/outside OR). Real-time imaging eliminates film development; assists physician visualization during procedures. Includes emergency stop switch and power-off safety mechanism for blackouts. X-ray tube assembly (IPX2) and footswitch (IPX7) provide liquid ingress protection. Output images support clinical decision-making by providing visual guidance during interventions.

Clinical Evidence

Clinical image evaluation conducted per FDA guidance for Solid State X-ray Imaging Devices. Images reviewed by US Board-Certified Clinician. Results confirmed clinical images were of sufficient quality for fluoroscopic X-ray system usage and substantially equivalent to the predicate device.

Technological Characteristics

X-ray generation system; CMOS and a-Si TFT flat panel detectors. Compliance with IEC 60601-1, 60601-1-2, 60601-1-3, 60601-1-6, 60601-2-28, 60601-2-43, 60601-2-54, and IEC TS 60601-4-2. IPX2 (tube assembly) and IPX7 (footswitch) ingress protection. Wired connectivity (no wireless function).

Indications for Use

Indicated for patient populations undergoing diagnostic, interventional, and surgical procedures requiring fluoroscopic and digital spot imaging.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

An image-intensified fluoroscopic x-ray system is a device intended to visualize anatomical structures by converting a pattern of x-radiation into a visible image through electronic amplification. This generic type of device may include signal analysis and display equipment, patient and equipment supports, component parts, and accessories.

Special Controls

*Classification.* Class II (special controls). An anthrogram tray or radiology dental tray intended for use with an image-intensified fluoroscopic x-ray system only is exempt from the premarket notification procedures in subpart E of part 807 of this chapter subject to the limitations in § 892.9. In addition, when intended as an accessory to the device described in paragraph (a) of this section, the fluoroscopic compression device is exempt from the premarket notification procedures in subpart E of part 807 of this chapter subject to the limitations in § 892.9.
