Intended Use

The Arthrex FibuLock Nail System is intended for use in the fixation of fibula fractures and osteotomies. The Buttress Plate is intended for use with the FibuLock PRO Nail and Arthrex TightRope Syndesmosis Devices to support additional stabilization for fibula fractures. The Buttress Plate is designed for use with the FibuLock PRO Nail and TightRope Syndesmosis devices and may not be used as a stand-alone device.

Device Story

Intramedullary fixation system for fibula fractures; comprises FibuLock PRO Nails, headless cortical screws, end caps, and buttress plates. Nails feature proximal fixation grippers (talons) to prevent migration and supplement three-point fixation; 6-degree lateral bend. Buttress plates provide adjunct stabilization. Used by orthopedic surgeons in clinical settings. System components are implanted to stabilize bone segments during healing. Benefits include secure proximal fixation and fracture stabilization. System is single-use; provided sterile (gamma) or non-sterile.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Performed Taper Bend, Torque, Compression, Static/Dynamic, Torsion, and Fatigue Bending per ASTM F1264. Talon expansion evaluated per ASTM F1264. Screws tested per ASTM F543 and FDA guidance. Buttress plates demonstrated statistical equivalence to K201522 via cyclic and shear loading. Biocompatibility per ISO 10993-1. MR safety evaluated per ASTM F2052, F2119, F2182, and F2213.
