Device Story

System comprises bone plates, threaded bone screws, and washers; used for stabilization of fractures, osteotomies, and joint fusions in small bones. Implants manufactured from medical-grade titanium, titanium alloy, and stainless steel. Screws available in various diameters (2.0mm-9.5mm), lengths (8mm-200mm), and configurations (cannulated/solid, headed/headless, self-drilling/blunt). Intended for use by surgeons in clinical settings. Subject of this submission is the introduction of sterile-packed versions of existing implants. No changes to design, materials, or fundamental technology. Output provides mechanical fixation to facilitate bone healing and reconstruction.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. No clinical data presented. Verification and validation activities (sterilization, cleaning, endotoxin testing) demonstrate compliance with FDA-recognized standards.

Technological Characteristics

Materials: Medical grade titanium (ASTM F67), stainless steel (ASTM E138), and titanium alloy. Components: Bone plates, threaded screws, washers. Configurations: Locking/non-locking, cannulated/solid, headed/headless. Sterilization: Sterile-packed.

Indications for Use

Indicated for stabilization of fractures, osteotomies, joint fusion, and reconstruction of small bones in toes, feet, ankles, fingers, hands, and wrists in adult and pediatric patients. Includes specific applications for forefoot, mid/hindfoot, ankle, hallux valgus, flatfoot, and Charcot neuropathic osteoarthropathy.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

Single/multiple component metallic bone fixation appliances and accessories are devices intended to be implanted consisting of one or more metallic components and their metallic fasteners. The devices contain a plate, a nail/plate combination, or a blade/plate combination that are made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum, stainless steel, and titanium, that are intended to be held in position with fasteners, such as screws and nails, or bolts, nuts, and washers. These devices are used for fixation of fractures of the proximal or distal end of long bones, such as intracapsular, intertrochanteric, intercervical, supracondylar, or condylar fractures of the femur; for fusion of a joint; or for surgical procedures that involve cutting a bone. The devices may be implanted or attached through the skin so that a pulling force (traction) may be applied to the skeletal system.
