Intended Use
When used as an interbody fusion device, the TruLift® Micro Expandable System is intended for spinal fusion procedures in skeletally mature patients with degenerative disc disease (DDD) at one or two contiguous levels (L2-S1). Expandable intervertebral body fusion spacers; designed for spinal fusion procedures; implanted in lumbosacral spine; used with autograft/allogeneic bone graft and supplemental internal fixation (e.g., pedicle screws). Spacers feature variable height expansion (8mm-16mm) to accommodate patient anatomy; superior/inferior teeth prevent migration/rotation. Used by surgeons in clinical settings. Benefits include restoration of disc height and promotion of spinal fusion in DDD patients.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only. No clinical data presented. Mechanical performance verified via static and dynamic axial compression and shear testing per ASTM F2077.

An intervertebral body fusion device is an implanted single or multiple component spinal device made from a variety of materials, including titanium and polymers. The device is inserted into the intervertebral body space of the cervical or lumbosacral spine, and is intended for intervertebral body fusion.
Special Controls
*Classification.* (1) Class II (special controls) for intervertebral body fusion devices that contain bone grafting material. The special control is the FDA guidance document entitled “Class II Special Controls Guidance Document: Intervertebral Body Fusion Device.” See § 888.1(e) for the availability of this guidance document.(2) Class III (premarket approval) for intervertebral body fusion devices that include any therapeutic biologic (e.g., bone morphogenic protein). Intervertebral body fusion devices that contain any therapeutic biologic require premarket approval.

The implant allows packing of autograft bone graft and/or allogeneic bone graft composed of cancellous and/or corticocancellous bone to help promote fusion. The superior and inferior surfaces have teeth to assist in the interface with the vertebral bodies to prevent rotation and/or migration. All implants are provided sterile and intended for SINGLE USE ONLY and should not be reused under any circumstances. Do not use any of the TruLift® Micro Expandable System components with components from any other system or manufacturer. The TruLift® Micro Expandable

# Material:
This submission seeks clearance of a device made from titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) as described by ASTM F136 and Co-26Cr-6Mo UNS R31537) Cobalt Chrome per ASTM F1537. This is the same material used in the predicate devices.
# Performance Data:
Static Axial Compression, Dynamic Axial Compression, Static Shear and Dynamic Shear testing according to ASTM F2077, was presented to demonstrate the substantial equivalency of the Pro-Lift Expandable System (K191005).
# Substantial Equivalence:
The TruLift Micro Expandable Spacer System & TruLift Expandable Spacer System was shown to be substantially equivalent to the predicate devices in indications for use, design, function, materials used and mechanical performance.
# Conclusion:
