Intended Use

The Aarhus Applicator Set is intended for use when performing HDR or PDR brachytherapy within a CT and MRI environment.

Device Story

Aarhus Applicator Set is an intracavitary/interstitial brachytherapy applicator. Device is inserted into patient and connected to an afterloader (VariSource iX, 200, or BRAVOS models). Applicator guides radioactive source from afterloader to target tissue location. Used in hospital CT or MRI environments. Enables precise delivery of remote-controlled radioisotope treatment to target tissue; benefits patient by facilitating targeted radiation therapy for gynecological cancers.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data or animal studies included. Verification and validation testing performed on production-equivalent devices under clinically representative conditions to demonstrate performance and functionality meet design input requirements.

Technological Characteristics

Intracavitary/interstitial brachytherapy applicator; material: PEEK; compatible with VariSource iX, 200, and BRAVOS afterloaders. Conforms to ISO 10993 (biocompatibility), ISO 14971 (risk management), IEC 60601-2-17 (brachytherapy equipment), and various ASTM standards for MRI safety (e.g., ASTM F2503, F2052, F2213, F2182, F2119).

Indications for Use

Indicated for cancer treatment of the vagina, cervix, and uterus using HDR or PDR brachytherapy within a hospital CT or MRI environment.

Regulatory Classification
