System includes retrieval loop with braided platinum wire, coaxial retrieval sheath with radiopaque distal tip, entry needle, wire guide, and dilator. Operated by physician via jugular approach. Device captures filter for removal from vena cava. Facilitates filter removal to benefit patients no longer needing prophylaxis against pulmonary embolism. Sterile, single-use device.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Biocompatibility testing performed per BS EN ISO 10993-1:2009 (cytotoxicity, sensitization, irritation, acute systemic toxicity, pyrogenicity, hemocompatibility). Additional testing included dimensional verification, leakage testing (time zero and 3-year accelerated aged), and tensile testing.

Technological Characteristics

System includes braided platinum wire retrieval loop, coaxial retrieval sheath with radiopaque band, entry needle, wire guide, and dilator. Materials include silicone (o-ring). Sterile, single-use. No software or energy source.

There are no prior submissions for the subject device. ## Performance Test Data (non-clinical): No performance standards have been established under section 514 performance standards, of the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act for these devices. However, nonclinical tests identified to assess the impact of proposed material and additive changes were performed on the Günther Tulip Vena Cava Filter Retrieval Set to demonstrate that the device meets continues to meet critical design specifications. The Günther Tulip Vena Cava Filter Retrieval Set was subjected to applicable testing to assure reliable design and performance under the testing parameters.
