Intended Use
TENS device-EmeTerm 2 is a wearable device for the treatment of nausea and vomiting caused by motion sickness and pregnancy.
Device Story
EmeTerm 2 is a wearable, rechargeable, non-invasive TENS device worn on the wrist. It delivers electrical stimulation to the median nerve via two electrodes on the inner wrist to treat nausea and vomiting. Operated by the patient via a touch screen and home button, the device provides adjustable stimulation intensity. It uses an AC sharp wave waveform. The device is intended for over-the-counter use. It functions as a neuromodulation tool to alleviate symptoms of motion sickness and pregnancy-related nausea. Healthcare providers do not operate the device; patients self-administer therapy. The device provides visual feedback via a screen for status, battery, and stimulation settings.
Clinical Evidence
No clinical data provided. Substantial equivalence is supported by non-clinical bench testing, including electrical safety (IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-2-10), electromagnetic compatibility (IEC 60601-1-2), and biocompatibility (ISO 10993-5, ISO 10993-10).
Technological Characteristics
Wearable wrist-worn TENS device; rechargeable 3.7V DC 80mAh Lithium battery; AC sharp wave waveform; 33Hz frequency; 100us pulse width; 500us pulse period; 6mA RMS max current; 40mA peak current. Connectivity: Standalone. User interface: Touch screen and home button. Biocompatibility per ISO 10993. Safety standards: IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-11, IEC 60601-2-10.
Indications for Use
Indicated for the treatment of nausea and vomiting caused by motion sickness and pregnancy in patients requiring relief of mild to moderate symptoms.
