Intended Use

ARTIS is a family of dedicated angiography systems developed for single and biplane diagnostic imaging and interventional procedures including, but not limited to, pediatric and obese patients. Procedures that can be performed with the ARTIS family include cardiac angiography, neuro-angiography, general angiography, rotational angiography, multipurpose angiography and whole body radiographic/fluoroscopic procedures as well as procedures next to the table for i.e. patient extremities. This does not include projection radiography. Additional procedures that can be performed include angiography in the operating room, image guided surgery by X-ray, by image fusion, and by navigation systems. The examination table as an integrated part of the system can be used for Xray imaging, surgery and interventions. ARTIS can also support the acquisition of position triggered imaging for spatial data synthesis. The ARTIS family include also the software option DynaCT with following indications for use: DynaCT is an X-ray imaging software option, which allows the reconstruction of two-dimensional images acquired with a standard angiographic C-arm device into a three-dimensional image format. DynaCT is intended for imaging both hard and soft tissues as well as other internal body structures for diagnosis, surgical planning, interventional procedures and treatment follow-up.

Device Story

ARTIS icono (VE21) is a multi-axis motorized C-arm angiography system for diagnostic and interventional procedures. Inputs include X-ray projections acquired via C-arm rotation around patient; system transforms these into 2D/3D images. Used in OR/clinic by physicians/technicians. Output visualized on ceiling-mounted displays; supports image fusion and navigation. System includes patient table, X-ray generator (Polydoros ACX), and DynaCT software for 3D reconstruction. Physician controls C-arm/table position and X-ray release via table-side modules/footswitch. Enables real-time visualization of vessels/catheters to guide interventions, potentially improving procedural safety and accuracy.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. No clinical data provided. Performance verified through software validation, electrical safety, and electromagnetic compatibility testing per standards (e.g., IEC 60601 series, ISO 10993-1, ISO 14971). Human factors usability validation confirmed safe operation per operator's manual.

Technological Characteristics

Modular angiography system (floor/biplane configurations). Components: C-arm, X-ray tube, flat panel detector, Polydoros ACX generator, patient table, ceiling-mounted displays. Connectivity: Networked/integrated with syngo workplace/Sensis. Software: Major level of concern. Standards: AAMI ANSI ES60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, IEC 60601-1-3, IEC 60601-1-6, IEC 60825-1, IEC 62304, IEC 80001-1, IEC 60601-2-28/43/54, ISO 10993-1, ISO 14971.

Indications for Use

Indicated for pediatric and adult patients requiring diagnostic imaging and interventional procedures, including cardiac, neuro, general, and rotational angiography, and whole-body radiographic/fluoroscopic procedures. Supports image-guided surgery and spatial data synthesis. DynaCT option indicated for 3D reconstruction of 2D X-ray images for hard/soft tissue visualization, surgical planning, and treatment follow-up.
