Device Story

The Tyber Medical Anatomical Plating System is a set of metallic bone plates and screws used for internal fixation of bone fractures, osteotomies, and fusions. The system comprises four sub-systems: Mini-frag/Small Bone, Foot, Long Bone Fracture, and Ankle Fracture/Fusion. Plates and screws are implanted by orthopedic surgeons in a clinical or surgical setting to stabilize bone fragments, facilitating healing. The device provides mechanical support to bone segments; it does not involve electronic processing, software, or AI. The system is provided sterile or non-sterile for single-use. Clinical benefit is derived from the stabilization of bone segments to promote union and reconstruction.

No clinical data. Substantial equivalence is supported by bench testing, including mechanical performance and fatigue endurance testing conducted in accordance with ASTM F382-17 on worst-case plate configurations.

Technological Characteristics

Materials: Ti-6Al-4V ELI (ASTM F136) or Stainless Steel (316L) with Anodized Type II surface treatment. Components: Locking and non-locking cortical screws (2.0mm-3.5mm) and various anatomical plates. Mechanical testing performed per ASTM F382-17. Sterilization: Sterile or non-sterile for single-use.

Indications for Use

Indicated for fixation of fractures, osteotomies, nonunions, replantations, and fusions of small bones/fragments (hand, wrist, foot, ankle); fixation of small, medium, and large bones in the foot (phalanges, metatarsals, cuneiform, cuboid, navicular, talus, calcaneus) in adults; fixation of fractures of the clavicle, scapula, olecranon, humerus, radius, ulna, fibula; and fixation of distal tibia/fibula fractures, ankle fractures, and malleolar fractures. Not for spinal use.

Single/multiple component metallic bone fixation appliances and accessories are devices intended to be implanted consisting of one or more metallic components and their metallic fasteners. The devices contain a plate, a nail/plate combination, or a blade/plate combination that are made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum, stainless steel, and titanium, that are intended to be held in position with fasteners, such as screws and nails, or bolts, nuts, and washers. These devices are used for fixation of fractures of the proximal or distal end of long bones, such as intracapsular, intertrochanteric, intercervical, supracondylar, or condylar fractures of the femur; for fusion of a joint; or for surgical procedures that involve cutting a bone. The devices may be implanted or attached through the skin so that a pulling force (traction) may be applied to the skeletal system.
