## Intended Use

Needle Stimulator is an electro-acupuncture stimulator device, which is indicated for use in the practice of acupuncture by qualified practitioners of acupuncture as determined by the states.

## Device Story

Needle Stimulator is an electro-acupuncture device used by qualified acupuncture practitioners in clinical settings. It consists of a console and 6 channels of electrode cables with alligator connectors. The device is powered by 6 1.5V batteries or AC 100-240V. It does not include needles; practitioners select legally marketed needles. The device delivers electrical stimulation via 3 output modes (continuous, interrupted, dense-disperse) using an asymmetric biphasic square waveform. The console features function knobs/buttons for user control of stimulation parameters and treatment time. It includes safety features like Type BF line current isolation, transformer-based channel isolation, and automatic shut-off. The device is microprocessor-controlled. Practitioners use the device to provide acupuncture therapy, with output affecting clinical decision-making based on the selected stimulation mode and intensity. Benefits include providing controlled electrical stimulation to acupuncture needles to assist in therapy.

## Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. The device underwent performance testing to verify compliance with ANSI AAMI ES60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, and IEC 60601-2-10. Testing confirmed that electrical output parameters, including maximum current density and power density, remain within safety limits. Biocompatibility was assessed per ISO 10993-5 and ISO 10993-10.

## Technological Characteristics

Console-based electro-acupuncture stimulator; 6 output channels; powered by 6x 1.5V DC or 100-240V AC; Type BF patient isolation; transformer-based channel isolation; ABS plastic housing; asymmetric biphasic square waveform; microprocessor-controlled; user-adjustable timer and stimulation intensity; compliant with IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-2-10, and IEC 60601-1-2.

Dear Caihong Sun:

We have reviewed your Section 510(k) premarket notification of intent to market the device referenced above and have determined the device is substantially equivalent (for the indications for use stated in the enclosure) to legally marketed predicate devices marketed in interstate commerce prior to May 28, 1976, the enactment date of the Medical Device Amendments, or to devices that have been reclassified in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (Act) that do not require approval of a premarket approval application (PMA). You may, therefore, market the device, subject to the general controls provisions of the Act. Although this letter refers to your product as a device, please be aware that some cleared products may instead be combination products. The 510(k) Premarket Notification Database located at https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfpmn/pmn.cfm identifies combination product submissions. The general controls provisions of the Act include requirements for annual registration, listing of devices, good manufacturing practice, labeling, and prohibitions against misbranding and adulteration. Please note: CDRH does not evaluate information related to contract liability warranties. We remind you, however, that device labeling must be truthful and not misleading.

If your device is classified (see above) into either class II (Special Controls) or class III (PMA), it may be subject to additional controls. Existing major regulations affecting your device can be found in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21, Parts 800 to 898. In addition, FDA may publish further announcements concerning your device in the Federal Register.

Please be advised that FDA's issuance of a substantial equivalence determination does not mean that FDA has made a determination that your device complies with other requirements of the Act or any Federal statutes and regulations administered by other Federal agencies. You must comply with all the Act's requirements, including, but not limited to: registration and listing (21 CFR Part 807); labeling (21 CFR Part 801); medical device reporting of medical device-related adverse events) (21 CFR 803) for

# Note 1:

Compared with the predicate device, the proposed device can be connected to AC power. Both of the AC power and DC power of the proposed device have passed IEC 60601-1 and EMC tests, and the description of AC power supply has been added to user manual. Therefore, this difference doesn't raise any safety and effectiveness issues.

# Note 2:

The maximum current density and maximum power density are different between the proposed device and the predicate device because they are calculated by different needle surface areas. After calculation, both of them are within the safety limit. Therefore, this difference doesn't raise any safety and effectiveness issues.

Detailed comparison data is included in "Section 10.2 - Substantial Equivalence Discussion" of this 510(k) submission.

# Note 2:

The weight, dimensions and appearance of the proposed device are a little different from the predicate device K130768, but these differences are insignificant in the terms of safety or effectiveness. Besides, there is a difference in treatment time range b…
