Intended Use

Device Story

Irrisept is a single-use, manual, self-contained wound irrigation system. It consists of a 450mL bottle containing 0.05% Chlorhexidine Gluconate (CHG) in 99.95% sterile water and a multi-port applicator (Irriprobe). The device is used by clinicians to cleanse wounds; the operator manually compresses the Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS) bottle to deliver the solution through the applicator tip. The mechanical force of the fluid stream loosens and removes debris from the wound bed. The CHG acts as a preservative. The device is provided sterile and is intended for single use to assist in wound management, potentially reducing microbial load through mechanical irrigation.

Substantial equivalence is supported by bench testing, including USP <51> antimicrobial effectiveness, ISO 13408 aseptic processing, ISO 11135/10993-7 sterilization validation, USP <85>/<151>/<161> endotoxin/pyrogen testing, ISO 11607 packaging validation, ASTM F1980 accelerated aging, and ISO 10993 biocompatibility testing.
