Intended Use

The SubNovii is intended for the removal and destruction of skin lesions and coaqulation of tissue.

Device Story

Handheld, battery-powered electrosurgical device; generates ionized electrical arc via electrode tip to skin without physical contact; uses radiofrequency energy to ionize air, creating plasma stream for tissue coagulation and lesion destruction. Used by clinicians in professional settings. Output is monopolar plasma energy. Benefits include precise, superficial tissue damage (less than 0.25mm) for dermatological applications. Healthcare providers use device to perform controlled tissue ablation/coagulation.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical study was required. Evidence consists of bench testing, including electrical safety compliance and histological evaluation on 4 Yucatan mini-pig tissues (liver, kidney, muscle, skin). Histology using nitro blue tetrazolium (NBT) demonstrated superficial tissue damage (<0.25mm), equivalent to the predicate device.

Technological Characteristics

Handheld, battery-powered electrosurgical device. Monopolar plasma output; 40kHz frequency; 5W max power. System includes handpiece, single-use disposable tips, and battery charger. Complies with IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2 standards.

Indications for Use

Indicated for the removal and destruction of skin lesions and coagulation of tissue in patients requiring electrosurgical procedures.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

An electrosurgical cutting and coagulation device and accessories is a device intended to remove tissue and control bleeding by use of high-frequency electrical current.
