Device Story

The TxTiHA and AxTiHA systems are intervertebral body fusion implants designed for lumbar spinal fusion. Implants are additive-manufactured from Ti-6Al-4V ELI titanium alloy (ASTM F3001) featuring a Promimic HAnano surface and an open-cellular 'Tetracell' structure. The devices are implanted by orthopedic surgeons in hospital or surgical settings to stabilize spinal segments, restrict motion, and reduce pain in patients with degenerative disc disease. The Tetracell structure provides a large graft cavity for autograft or allogenic bone graft, facilitating bone through-growth. The implants feature tapered leading edges and bi-convex profiles for anatomical fit. The AxTiHA system includes integrated fixation screws for stand-alone use in specific lordotic configurations. The output is a stabilized spinal segment, which promotes fusion and provides clinical benefit by alleviating discogenic back pain.

Indications for Use

Indicated for skeletally mature patients with degenerative disc disease (DDD) at one or two contiguous lumbar levels (L2-S1), confirmed by history and radiography, who have failed at least 6 months of non-operative treatment. Patients may have up to Grade 1 spondylolisthesis or retrolisthesis. TxTiHA is used via transforaminal approach with supplemental fixation. AxTiHA is used via anterior approach; hyperlordotic implants (≥20°) require supplemental fixation, while <20° implants used with three internal screws do not.
