Intended Use

Diagnostic ultrasound imaging or fluid flow analysis of the human body as follows: Fetal/Obstetrics, Abdominal, Gynecology, Intraoperative, Small Organ, Neonatal Cephalic, Adult Cephalic, Trans-raginal, Muscular-Skeletal (Conventional, Superficial), Urology, Cardiac Adult, Cardiac Pediatric, Trans-esophageal (Cardiac) and Peripheral vessel.

Device Story

The RS85 is a mobile, software-controlled diagnostic ultrasound system used by clinicians to acquire and display ultrasound data. It supports multiple imaging modes: B-mode, M-mode, Color/Power Doppler (including Directional Power Doppler/S-Flow), PW/CW Spectral Doppler, Tissue Doppler, 3D/4D imaging, Elastoscan, and MV-Flow. The system processes acoustic signals to generate images and provides measurement/analysis packages to aid diagnosis. It is used in clinical settings by healthcare professionals. The device displays real-time acoustic output (Mechanical Index and Thermal Index). Output is viewed on an integrated monitor to assist in clinical decision-making and patient diagnosis.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical studies were required to support substantial equivalence. Evidence is based on non-clinical bench testing, including acoustic output, biocompatibility, cleaning/disinfection, and thermal/electrical/mechanical safety testing in accordance with FDA guidance and international standards (IEC 60601 series, ISO 10993-1).

Technological Characteristics

Mobile cart-based ultrasound system with 192 transmit/receive channels. Supports various transducer types (linear, curved, endocavity, phased array). Connectivity includes WLAN. Software-controlled imaging modes. Complies with IEC 60601-1 (electrical safety), IEC 60601-1-2 (EMC), and ISO 10993-1 (biocompatibility). Acoustic output follows Track 3 requirements.

Indications for Use

Indicated for fetal/obstetrics, abdominal, gynecology, intraoperative, pediatric, small organ, neonatal/adult cephalic, trans-rectal, trans-vaginal, musculoskeletal (conventional/superficial), urology, cardiac (adult/pediatric/trans-esophageal), and peripheral vessel imaging and fluid flow analysis.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

An ultrasonic pulsed doppler imaging system is a device that combines the features of continuous wave doppler-effect technology with pulsed-echo effect technology and is intended to determine stationary body tissue characteristics, such as depth or location of tissue interfaces or dynamic tissue characteristics such as velocity of blood or tissue motion. This generic type of device may include signal analysis and display equipment, patient and equipment supports, component parts, and accessories.
