Intended Use

The ACIST HDi System is intended to be used for ultrasound examination of coronary and peripheral intravascular pathology. Intravascular ultrasound imaging is indicated in patients who are candidates for transluminal interventional procedures. The ACIST Kodama Intravascular Ultrasound Catheter is intended for use with the ACIST HDi System.

Device Story

The ACIST HDi System and Kodama Intravascular Ultrasound Catheter provide real-time, high-resolution cross-sectional intravascular imaging. The system consists of a console, Patient Interface Module (PIM), optional Linear Translation System (LTS), and the Kodama catheter. The catheter, inserted into coronary or peripheral vasculature, emits sound energy at 40MHz or 60MHz via a distal transducer. Reflected ultrasonic waves are received by the transducer and transmitted to the console for signal processing and image reconstruction. The PIM provides electromechanical coupling for catheter rotation; the optional LTS enables automated, controlled linear pullbacks. The console renders images on a touchscreen for physician review.
