Intended Use

The EnSite Precision™ Cardiac Mapping System is a suggested diagnostic tool in patients for whom electrophysiology studies have been indicated. The EnSite™ Precision System interfaces to either the MediGuide™ Technology system or the EnSite Precision Module to combine and display magnetic processed patient positioning and navigation mapping information. When used with the EnSite™ Array™ Catheter, the EnSite Precision™ Cardiac Mapping System is intended to be used in the right atrium of patients with complex arrhythmias that may be difficult to identify using conventional mapping systems alone. OR When used with an EnSite Precision™ Surface Electrode Kit, the EnSite Precision™ Cardiac Mapping System is intended to display the position of conventional electrophysiology (EP) catheters in the heart.

Device Story

System provides 3D visualization/navigation for EP catheters; displays cardiac electrical activity as waveform traces and dynamic 3D isopotential maps. Inputs include impedance-based location data and magnetic field-based positioning data from EnSite Precision Module or MediGuide Technology. System processes these inputs to generate anatomical models and track catheter position. Used in clinical EP labs by physicians. Output displayed on workstation; assists in identifying complex arrhythmias and guiding catheter placement. Benefits include improved navigation precision and mapping of cardiac chambers.

Clinical Evidence

No human clinical trials. Evidence based on bench testing and preclinical animal studies. Bench testing included electrical, mechanical, accuracy, repeatability, packaging, shelf life, and biocompatibility. Comparative testing against predicates evaluated model rendering, catheter electrode localization (with/without respiration gating), and workflow performance with Positional Reference Tool (PRT) and EnGuide Stability Monitor. Results confirmed substantial equivalence and adherence to performance specifications.
