Intended Use

The Infinity CentralStation (ICS) is intended for use by trained healthcare professionals for the purpose of centralized monitoring of adult, pediatric and neonatal patient data within the hospital or clinical environment. Centralized monitoring involves the display and management of data from networked patient monitors including the annunciation of visual and audible physiologic parameter alarms at a central monitoring workstation. Infinity CentralStation with Rest ECG is intended for the production and interpretation of diagnostic electrocardiograms for adult and pediatric patients when connected to a monitor with diagnostic 12-Lead ECG monitoring enabled.

Device Story

Infinity CentralStation (ICS) Wide is a centralized monitoring workstation for hospital/clinical use by trained healthcare professionals (physicians, nurses, technicians). It receives real-time multi-parameter physiological data and alarm signals from networked patient monitors, including wireless telemetry. The system displays waveforms, trends, and events; provides alarm annunciation; and supports diagnostic 12-lead ECG production. It functions as an IT platform running medical-grade software. Healthcare providers use the workstation to manage patient data, review trends, and respond to alarms, facilitating clinical decision-making through continuous patient surveillance. Optional features include web-based data review, HIS demographic integration, and ventilator data display via VentCentral.

Clinical Evidence

Validation testing performed in a hospital environment to assess user acceptance, satisfaction, and observations via surveys with pre-determined assessment questions and user ratings. Verification testing confirmed design outputs satisfy design inputs. No clinical outcome data or patient-contact testing required as the device is not used in the patient vicinity.

Technological Characteristics

Commercial-grade computer platform with widescreen/touch-screen displays. Connectivity via Infinity Network. Software-based central monitoring station. Complies with IEC 60601-1-2 (EMC) and IEC 60950-1 (IT equipment safety).

Indications for Use

Indicated for centralized monitoring of adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients in hospital or clinical settings. Includes production and interpretation of diagnostic 12-lead ECGs for adult and pediatric patients when connected to compatible monitors. No contraindications.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

The arrhythmia detector and alarm device monitors an electrocardiogram and is designed to produce a visible or audible signal or alarm when atrial or ventricular arrhythmia, such as premature contraction or ventricular fibrillation, occurs.

Special Controls

*Classification.* Class II (special controls). The guidance document entitled “Class II Special Controls Guidance Document: Arrhythmia Detector and Alarm” will serve as the special control. See § 870.1 for the availability of this guidance document.
