Intended Use

The Hansen Medical Magellan Robotic Catheter 6Fr is intended to be used to facilitate navigation to anatomical targets in the peripheral vasculature and subsequently provide a conduit for manual placement of therapeutic devices. The Magellan Robotic Catheter 6Fr is intended to be used with the Hansen Medical Magellan Robotic System and accessories.

Device Story

Magellan Robotic Catheter 6Fr is a steerable catheter used with the Magellan Robotic System to navigate peripheral vasculature. Device consists of a guide (outer catheter) with dual-bend articulating sections and a non-articulating leader (inner catheter). System facilitates navigation to targets and provides a conduit for manual placement of therapeutic devices; also supports delivery of diagnostic contrast agents. Operated by clinicians in a clinical setting. Modification allows compatibility with power contrast injection systems up to 600 psi via a high-pressure braided flush line and female luer connector. Device is sterile, single-use. Output is physical navigation and conduit for therapy delivery; clinical decision-making relies on clinician visualization and control of the robotic system.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data. Bench testing only, including tensile strength, simulated use, pressure burst, ISO MEM elution cytotoxicity, ASTM hemolysis, and chemical characterization testing.

Technological Characteristics

Steerable catheter with dual-bend articulating guide and non-articulating leader. Materials include high-pressure braided flush line. Compatible with power contrast injection systems up to 600 psi.
