Device Story

Master Curve Materials (MCM) consist of multi-level, lyophilized serum/plasma-based calibrator sets; used to verify calibration and reportable range of ADVIA Centaur FSH, FT4, T4, and T3 assays. MCMs are reconstituted and loaded onto ADVIA Centaur systems; system processes samples to compare measured values against lot-specific target values provided in value cards. Healthcare providers use output to confirm assay performance and calibration accuracy within clinical laboratory settings. Benefits include ensuring reliable diagnostic results for thyroid and reproductive hormone testing.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Stability studies (real-time shelf-life and open-vial) and value assignment protocols were performed to validate performance. No clinical data or method comparison studies were required for this calibration verification material.

Technological Characteristics

Lyophilized serum/plasma-based materials containing sodium azide (0.1% post-reconstitution). FSH MCM uses equine serum; FT4, T4, and T3 MCMs use human plasma. Multi-level sets (6-8 levels). Storage at 2-8°C. Designed for use on ADVIA Centaur systems.

Indications for Use

Indicated for prescription use only as an in vitro diagnostic quality control material for the verification of calibration and reportable range of the ADVIA Centaur FSH, FT4, T4, and T3 assays on ADVIA Centaur systems.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

A quality control material (assayed and unassayed) for clinical chemistry is a device intended for medical purposes for use in a test system to estimate test precision and to detect systematic analytical deviations that may arise from reagent or analytical instrument variation. A quality control material (assayed and unassayed) may be used for proficiency testing in interlaboratory surveys. This generic type of device includes controls (assayed and unassayed) for blood gases, electrolytes, enzymes, multianalytes (all kinds), single (specified) analytes, or urinalysis controls.
