Device Story
Voluson E6/E8/E10 are mobile diagnostic ultrasound systems for general radiology and OB/GYN. Systems use various linear, curved, and matrix phased array transducers (mechanical/electronic scanning) to acquire ultrasound signals. Data is processed to produce real-time 2D, 3D, and 4D images and fluid flow analysis. Operated by clinicians in clinical settings. Features include color LCD/TFT touch panels, DICOM networking, and image storage. Output is displayed for clinical review to support diagnostic decision-making. New features include wireless MMS/SMS image/text transmission via SIM card, expanded Fetal Cardio presets, and IOTA LR2 GYN measurement tool. Benefits include high-accuracy real-time imaging and comprehensive analysis for patient assessment.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only. Device evaluated for acoustic output, biocompatibility, cleaning/disinfection, thermal, electrical, electromagnetic, and mechanical safety. Conforms to AAMI/ANSI ES60601-1, IEC60601-1-2, IEC60601-2-37, NEMA UD 3, ISO 10993-1, NEMA UD 2, ISO 14971, and DICOM standards.
Technological Characteristics
Mobile console with keyboard and color LCD/TFT touch panel. Uses linear, curved linear, and matrix phased array transducers (mechanical/electronic scanning). Supports 2D, 3D, 4D, B, M, PW/CW Doppler, Color/Power Doppler, and harmonic imaging. Connectivity via DICOM and wireless SIM card (MMS/SMS). Complies with IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, and IEC 60601-2-37.
Indications for Use
Indicated for diagnostic ultrasound imaging and fluid flow analysis in fetal/OB, abdominal, pediatric, small organ, neonatal/adult cephalic, cardiac, musculoskeletal, and peripheral vascular applications. We have reviewed your Section 510(k) premarket notification of intent to market the device referenced above and have determined the device is substantially equivalent (for the indications for use stated in the enclosure) to legally marketed predicate devices marketed in interstate commerce prior to May 28, 1976, the enactment date of the Medical Device Amendments, or to devices that have been reclassified in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (Act) that do not require approval of a premarket approval application (PMA). You may, therefore, market the device, subject to the general controls provisions of the Act.
