Intended Use

The Aileron Interspinous Fixation System is not intended for stand-alone use.

Device Story

Aileron Interspinous Fixation System is a posterior, non-pedicle supplemental fixation device for the non-cervical spine. It consists of titanium alloy implants designed for plate fixation to spinous processes. Used by surgeons in clinical settings to stabilize and maintain spinal alignment during fusion procedures. It acts as a load-sharing device to support healing in conjunction with autogenous bone graft. It is not intended for stand-alone use or to replace normal body structures. The system is available in various sizes to accommodate patient anatomy.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Performance data included static and dynamic compression and torsion testing per modified ASTM F1717, plus spike pull-off and static axial grip testing.

A spinal interlaminal fixation orthosis is a device intended to be implanted made of an alloy, such as stainless steel, that consists of various hooks and a posteriorly placed compression or distraction rod. The device is implanted, usually across three adjacent vertebrae, to straighten and immobilize the spine to allow bone grafts to unite and fuse the vertebrae together. The device is used primarily in the treatment of scoliosis (a lateral curvature of the spine), but it also may be used in the treatment of fracture or dislocation of the spine, grades 3 and 4 of spondylolisthesis (a dislocation of the spinal column), and lower back syndrome.
