Intended Use

BNX Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) System is a sterile, single-patient-use endoscopic ultrasound aspiration needle; used to acquire tissue samples from sub-mucosal and extramural gastrointestinal lesions. Device consists of aspiration delivery system and aspiration needle (19, 22, 25 gauge); inserted through accessory channel of ultrasound endoscope. Physician operates device; needle tip penetrates lesion while suction is applied via standard hypodermic syringe. Integrated passive needle protection shield automatically engages over distal needle tip during removal to prevent inadvertent needle sticks. Modular design allows needle exchange without disconnecting handle. Device benefits patient by enabling diagnostic tissue sampling while protecting healthcare providers from sharps injuries.

Clinical Evidence

Bench and simulated use testing only. Simulated use study evaluated >500 cycles of the sharps injury prevention feature with zero failures. Results met FDA guidance criteria for sharps injury prevention features, demonstrating 97.5% confidence that the true failure rate is ≤0.7% and 99.5% confidence that it is ≤1.1%. Testing confirmed the safety mechanism does not impede clinical performance.
