Intended Use
Provisional Abutments are intended for use as an accessory to endosseous dental implants to support a prosthetic device in a partially or fully edentulous patient. They are intended for use to support a prosthesis in the mandible or maxilla for up to 180 days during endosseous and gingival healing, and are for non occlusal loading of provisional restorations. The prosthesis will be mechanically retained to the abutment system.
Device Story
Certain® BellaTek™ Provisional Abutment is a two-piece temporary healing abutment system consisting of a machined titanium alloy (6AL-4V) post, a PEEK provisional cap, and a gold-plated stainless steel (316L) retaining screw. Used in dental clinics by clinicians to support provisional prostheses on endosseous dental implants during the healing phase. The system incorporates the Encode® impression system. The cap attaches to the post via a snap mechanism; the prosthesis is mechanically retained to the cap. The device provides temporary support for up to 180 days under non-occlusal loading conditions, facilitating gingival and endosseous healing before final restoration.
Clinical Evidence
No clinical data provided. Substantial equivalence determined via non-clinical bench testing, including static bend and fatigue testing per ISO 14801, snap on/off force testing, and screw torque testing. All tests passed.
Technological Characteristics
Materials: Titanium alloy (ASTM F136), PEEK (ASTM F2026), stainless steel (316L). Surface: Titanium nitride coated/anodized. Design: Two-piece (post and cap) system with internal connection to implant. Mechanical retention (snap) for cap. Non-occlusal loading. Sterilization: Not specified.
Indications for Use
Indicated for partially or fully edentulous patients requiring temporary prosthetic support in the mandible or maxilla during endosseous and gingival healing (up to 180 days). For non-occlusal loading only.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
An endosseous dental implant abutment is a premanufactured prosthetic component directly connected to the endosseous dental implant and is intended for use as an aid in prosthetic rehabilitation.
Special Controls
*Classification.* Class II (special controls). The guidance document entitled “Class II Special Controls Guidance Document: Root-Form Endosseous Dental Implants and Endosseous Dental Implant Abutments” will serve as the special control.
