Device ClassClass 2

Intended Use

The device is a digital monitor intended for use in measuring blood pressure and pulse rate in adult patient population. The device detects the appearance of irregular heartbeats during measurement and gives a warning signal with readings.

Device Story

Automatic non-invasive blood pressure system; battery or AC-powered. Device uses integral pump to inflate cuff; electronically controlled valve for dynamic linear deflation. During deflation, device monitors cuff pressure and extracts pulse waveform data. Software analyzes waveform to determine systolic/diastolic pressure and pulse rate; detects irregular heartbeats. Intended for home use by adult patients. Output displayed on LCD; provides blood pressure, pulse rate, and irregular heartbeat warning. Assists users in monitoring cardiovascular health.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Clinical accuracy testing performed on 85 adults in accordance with ANSI/AAMI/ISO 81060-2 standard. Results demonstrated compliance with accuracy requirements for blood pressure and pulse rate measurement.

Technological Characteristics

Oscillometric non-invasive blood pressure monitor. Features: DC rolling pump, dynamic linear deflation, LCD display. Power: AA battery or AC adapter. Connectivity: None. Software: Identical algorithm to predicate. Compliance: IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, AAMI SP10. Patient contact materials (cuffs) cleared in previous submissions.

Indications for Use

Indicated for blood pressure and pulse rate measurement in adult patients. Detects irregular heartbeats during measurement and provides a warning signal.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

A noninvasive blood pressure measurement system is a device that provides a signal from which systolic, diastolic, mean, or any combination of the three pressures can be derived through the use of tranducers placed on the surface of the body.

The device is battery powered and can also be powered from an IEC 60601-1 compliant AC adaptor. The device inflates a cuff with an integral pump, then deflates the cuff via an electronically controllable valve. During deflation the cuff pressure is monitored and pulse waveform data is extracted. The extracted pulse waveform data is then analyzed by software which determines pulse rate, as well as systolic and diastolic pressure. The device is intended to be used with specified Omron cuffs in three sizes to encompass arms ranging from 9 to 17 inches in circumference. The device also detects the appearance of irregular heartbeats during measurement.
