Intended Use

The Siemens Acuson X150 ultrasound imaging system is intended for the following applications: General Radiology, Fetal, Abdominal, Intraoperative, Pediatric, Small Parts, Neonatal/Adult Cephalic, Cardiac, Transesophageal, Pelvic, Transcranial, OB/GYN, Urology, Vascular, Musculoskeletal, Superficial Musculoskeletal, and Peripheral Vascular applications. The system also provides for the measurement of anatomical structures and for analysis packages that provide information that is used for clinical diagnosis purposes.

Device Story

ACUSON X150 is a mobile, software-controlled diagnostic ultrasound system. It acquires primary or secondary harmonic ultrasound echo data via various transducers (phased, convex, linear arrays). Data is processed and displayed on a flat panel display in multiple modes: B-Mode, Pulsed (PW) Doppler, Continuous (CW) Doppler, Color Doppler, Amplitude Doppler, harmonic imaging, and 3D imaging. The system provides on-screen thermal and mechanical indices for bio-effect monitoring. Operated by clinicians in clinical settings, the device facilitates anatomical measurements and analysis for clinical diagnosis. Output allows healthcare providers to visualize internal structures and blood flow, aiding in the diagnosis of various conditions across multiple medical specialties.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. The device was evaluated for acoustic output, biocompatibility, cleaning/disinfection effectiveness, and thermal, electrical, electromagnetic, and mechanical safety. It conforms to standards including UL 60601-1, IEC 60601-2-37, and AIUM/NEMA UD-2/UD-3.

Technological Characteristics

Mobile, software-controlled ultrasound system. Supports multiple transducer types (phased, convex, linear arrays). Connectivity includes flat panel display. Complies with IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-2-37, and ISO 10993-1. Software-controlled signal processing for B-mode, Doppler, and harmonic imaging.

Indications for Use

Indicated for diagnostic ultrasound imaging or fluid flow analysis in general radiology, fetal, abdominal, intraoperative, pediatric, small parts, neonatal/adult cephalic, cardiac, transesophageal, pelvic, transcranial, OB/GYN, urology, vascular, and musculoskeletal applications.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

An ultrasonic pulsed doppler imaging system is a device that combines the features of continuous wave doppler-effect technology with pulsed-echo effect technology and is intended to determine stationary body tissue characteristics, such as depth or location of tissue interfaces or dynamic tissue characteristics such as velocity of blood or tissue motion. This generic type of device may include signal analysis and display equipment, patient and equipment supports, component parts, and accessories.
