Device Story

The S TEST system consists of plastic reagent cartridges containing two reservoirs (R1, R2) and a reaction cell/photometric cuvette. Cartridges feature a dot code label containing chemistry parameters and calibration factors. The system is used with the Hitachi Clinical Analyzer E40 in clinical laboratories or physician office laboratories. The device takes serum or plasma samples as input. It performs quantitative photometric analysis based on NADH oxidation; ALT/AST activity is determined by measuring the rate of decrease in NADH absorbance at 340 nm. The analyzer processes the reaction and provides quantitative enzyme activity results. Healthcare providers use these results to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of liver and heart diseases. Clinical Evidence

Clinical performance evaluated at three external physician office laboratory (POL) sites. Study included precision testing (n=30 replicates per sample per site) and method comparison against traditional central laboratory methods. Method comparison showed high correlation (r=0.997-0.999) across dynamic ranges (ALT 8-244 U/L; AST 5-383 U/L). Precision studies demonstrated total %CVs ranging from 1.1% to 5.9%.
