Intended Use

The Mustang™ Balloon Dilatation Catheter is intended for dilatation of stenosis in the peripheral vascular, for the treatment of obstructive lesions of native or synthetic arteriovenous dialysis fistulae and post-deployed stent expansion of self-expanding and balloon expandable peripheral vascular stents.

Device Story

Over-the-wire balloon dilatation catheter; dual lumen shaft design. One lumen for 0.035" guidewire passage; second lumen for balloon inflation/deflation. Proximal Y-connector manifold with luer lock fittings. Radiopaque marker bands under balloon for positioning; silicone coating on balloon for insertion/withdrawal. Used in clinical settings by physicians for peripheral vascular stenosis and dialysis fistula lesions. Device inflated to dilate vessels or expand stents; improves blood flow/vessel patency. Benefits patient by restoring vascular access or arterial flow.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. No clinical data. In-vitro performance testing included effective length, inflation/deflation time, tensile strength, kink resistance, crossing profile, rated burst pressure (including in-stent), fatigue, compliance, and particulate evaluation. Biocompatibility testing included cytotoxicity, sensitization, reactivity, systemic toxicity, pyrogenicity, hemolysis, complement activation, hemocompatibility, and mutagenicity.

Technological Characteristics

Over-the-wire dual lumen catheter; 3.0-12.0 mm balloon diameters; 2-20 cm lengths. Materials include silicone-based balloon coating. Radiopaque marker bands. Sterilized via established methods. Mechanical inflation/deflation. Compatible with 0.035" guidewires.

Indications for Use

Indicated for Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty (PTA) in peripheral vasculature (iliac, femoral, popliteal, tibial, peroneal, subclavian, renal arteries) and treatment of obstructive lesions in native/synthetic arteriovenous dialysis fistulae. Also indicated for post-dilatation of balloon-expandable and self-expanding peripheral stents. Not for use in coronary arteries.
