Intended Use

The PTFE Introducer is intended for use in the percutaneous insertion of pacing leads or catheters in the venous system.

Device Story

The PTFE Peelable Introducer Kit is a single-use, sterile device used by clinicians for percutaneous venous access. The kit includes a needle, syringe, guidewire, and a peelable introducer set (dilator and sheath with proximal handles). The dilator is advanced over a guidewire to facilitate sheath placement. The sheath features a 'peel-away' design, allowing the clinician to remove the sheath after the pacing lead or catheter is positioned without disturbing the inserted device. This facilitates efficient lead or catheter placement in a clinical setting.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Performance testing included sheath compatibility with dilator, handle break force, peel force, peelability, handle integrity, tensile force, and dimensional verification (ID, tip angle, length). All tests passed, confirming equivalence to the predicate.

Technological Characteristics

PTFE sheath and dilator with integrated proximal handles. Sizes range from 3.5F to 16.5F. Single-use, sterile. Mechanical peel-away mechanism. No software or electronic components.

Indications for Use

Indicated for percutaneous insertion of pacing leads or catheters into the venous system.

Regulatory Classification

Identification
