Intended Use
Smith & Nephew RF Cannulae are intended to facilitate placement of Smith & Nephew RF Denervation Probes. The Smith & Nephew RF Cannulae are indicated for use in RF heat lesion procedures for the relief of pain.
Device Story
Smith & Nephew RF Cannulae are surgical access tools designed to facilitate the placement of RF Denervation Probes during radiofrequency heat lesion procedures. The cannulae are provided in various lengths, gauges, and tip configurations (sharp or blunt; straight or curved) to accommodate different anatomical sites. The device is used by clinicians in a clinical setting to provide a pathway for the RF probe to reach the target tissue. By enabling precise probe placement, the cannulae assist in the delivery of RF energy to perform nerve ablation, which is intended to provide pain relief for the patient.
Clinical Evidence
No clinical data provided; bench testing only.
Technological Characteristics
Cannulae available in 18, 20, and 22 gauge sizes with varying lengths (5cm, 10cm, 15cm) and tip configurations (sharp/blunt, straight/curved). Designed for manual insertion to guide RF probes. No energy source or software components.
Indications for Use
Indicated for use in RF heat lesion procedures for the relief of pain in patients requiring denervation probe placement.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
A radiofrequency lesion probe is a device connected to a radiofrequency (RF) lesion generator to deliver the RF energy to the site within the nervous system where a lesion is desired.
