Intended Use

IB Neuro™ software allows the post-processing and display of dynamically acquired MR datasets to evaluate image intensity variations over time. IB Neuro™ v1.0 plug-in accepts data from existing MRI systems, performs quality control checks and generates parametric perfusion maps such as Relative Cerebral Blood Volume (rCBV), Cerebral Blood Flow (CBF), Mean Transit Time (MTT) and Time to Peak (TTP) and sends the maps to a PACS for subsequent viewing. These images when interpreted by a trained physician may yield information useful in clinical applications. Our advanced technology is designed to be compliant with healthcare standards such as DICOM and is easily and rapidly integrated into existing medical image visualization applications.

Device Story

IB Neuro v1.0 is a software plug-in for existing medical image visualization applications (e.g., OsiriX, PACS). It accepts dynamically acquired MR datasets as input. The software performs quality control, generates parametric perfusion maps (rCBV, CBF, MTT, TTP), performs automated contrast agent leakage correction for rCBV, generates automated brain masks, and allows parameter normalization to normal appearing white matter (NAWM). Output consists of DICOM-compliant perfusion maps and reports sent to PACS. Used in clinical settings by trained physicians to assist in image interpretation and clinical decision-making. Benefits include rapid integration into existing workflows and automated generation of perfusion metrics.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data. Bench testing only, including software validation and verification per FDA software validation guidance.

Technological Characteristics

Software-based image processing plug-in; platform-independent base library; DICOM compliant; integrates with existing PACS/workstations; automated algorithms for perfusion mapping, brain mask generation, and contrast leakage correction.

Indications for Use

Indicated for use by trained physicians to process and display dynamically acquired MR datasets for the evaluation of image intensity variations over time, generating parametric perfusion maps (rCBV, CBF, MTT, TTP) for clinical interpretation.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

A magnetic resonance diagnostic device is intended for general diagnostic use to present images which reflect the spatial distribution and/or magnetic resonance spectra which reflect frequency and distribution of nuclei exhibiting nuclear magnetic resonance. Other physical parameters derived from the images and/or spectra may also be produced. The device includes hydrogen-1 (proton) imaging, sodium-23 imaging, hydrogen-1 spectroscopy, phosphorus-31 spectroscopy, and chemical shift imaging (preserving simultaneous frequency and spatial information).

Special Controls

*Classification.* Class II (special controls). A magnetic resonance imaging disposable kit intended for use with a magnetic resonance diagnostic device only is exempt from the premarket notification procedures in subpart E of part 807 of this chapter subject to the limitations in § 892.9.
