Intended Use

The Nova StatSensor Creatinine Hospital Meter is intended for in vitro diagnostic use by health care professionals and for Point-Of-Care usage for the quantitative measurement of creatinine in capillary, venous, and arterial whole blood. Creatinine measurements are used in the diagnosis and treatment of renal diseases and in monitoring renal dialysis. Not for use in neonates. Nova StatSensor Creatinine Test Strips are intended for use only with the StatSensor Creatinine Hospital Meter for quantitative tests. The Nova StatSensor Creatinine Hospital Meter is intended to quantitatively measure creatinine in whole blood. The Creatinine Meter is factory calibrated to provide plasma equivalent results to laboratory methods. Nova StatSensor Creatinine Test Strips are for testing outside the body (in vitro diagnostic use only). Nova StatSensor Creatinine Control Solutions are intended for use with the Nova StatSensor Creatinine Hospital Meter and Nova StatSensor Creatinine Test Strips as a quality control check to verify the accuracy of blood creatinine test results. There are three levels of controls, (Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3). These solutions will be offered for sale separately from the meter. Nova StatSensor Creatinine Linearity Kit solutions are used to check the linearity of the Nova StatSensor Creatinine Hospital Meter System. There are five levels of Linearity Solutions, (Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5).

Device Story

Point-of-care diagnostic system for quantitative creatinine measurement in whole blood; utilizes electrochemical test strips; operated by healthcare professionals in clinical settings. Device processes blood samples to provide plasma-equivalent creatinine results; aids clinicians in diagnosing renal disease and monitoring dialysis. System includes meter, test strips, quality control solutions, and linearity kits for accuracy verification. Provides rapid results to inform immediate clinical decision-making regarding renal function.

Clinical Evidence

No clinical data provided in the document; substantial equivalence determination based on 510(k) regulatory review.

Technological Characteristics

Electrochemical biosensor; uses test strips containing creatinine amidohydrolase, creatine amidinohydrolase, and sarcosine oxidase. Handheld form factor; 3.7V rechargeable lithium battery. Factory calibrated; no calibration code required. Connectivity via charging/data upload station. Operating range: 15°C-40°C, 20%-80% humidity. Measuring range: 0.3-12.5 mg/dL.

Indications for Use

Indicated for quantitative measurement of creatinine in capillary, venous, and arterial whole blood by healthcare professionals in point-of-care settings to aid in diagnosis/treatment of renal disease and monitoring dialysis. Contraindicated for use in neonates.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

A creatinine test system is a device intended to measure creatinine levels in plasma and urine. Creatinine measurements are used in the diagnosis and treatment of renal diseases, in monitoring renal dialysis, and as a calculation basis for measuring other urine analytes.
