Intended Use

The Arrow Pressure Injectable PICC is intended for short-term or long-term peripheral access to the central venous system for intravenous therapy and blood sampling.

Device Story

Radiopaque polyurethane peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC); available in 4 Fr single lumen (trimmable) and 5 Fr double lumen (trimmable or BlueFlex® tip) configurations. Device provides peripheral access to central venous system for IV therapy, blood sampling, and power injection of contrast media. Labeled for pressure injection on distal hub to ensure proper use. Used in clinical settings for patients requiring central venous access. Healthcare providers operate the device to deliver fluids or contrast media via power injectors (max 300 psi). Enables safe administration of contrast media for diagnostic imaging while maintaining standard PICC functionality.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Performance verified via Dynamic Flow Rate test, Catheter whip test, and Repeat Injection Test. Results demonstrate safety and effectiveness comparable to predicate devices.

Technological Characteristics

Radiopaque polyurethane construction; 4 Fr (single lumen) and 5 Fr (double lumen) diameters; trimmable and BlueFlex® tip options; sterile kit configuration. Designed for power injection up to 300 psi.

Indications for Use

Indicated for short or long term peripheral access to the central venous system for intravenous therapy, blood sampling, infusion, and power injection of contrast media. Maximum power injector pressure must not exceed 300 psi.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

A percutaneous, implanted, long-term intravascular catheter is a device that consists of a slender tube and any necessary connecting fittings, such as luer hubs, and accessories that facilitate the placement of the device. The device allows for repeated access to the vascular system for long-term use of 30 days or more, and it is intended for administration of fluids, medications, and nutrients; the sampling of blood; and monitoring blood pressure and temperature. The device may be constructed of metal, rubber, plastic, composite materials, or any combination of these materials and may be of single or multiple lumen design.
