Intended Use

The SpiraLok Anchor is intended for: Shoulder: Rotor Cuff Repair, Biceps Tenodesis, Acromio-Clavicular Separation Repair; Foot/Ankle: Lateral Stabilization, Medial Stabilization, Achilles Tendon Repair; Knee: Medial Collateral Ligament Repair, Lateral Collateral Ligament Repair, Posterior Oblique Ligament Repair, Iliotibial Band Tenodesis; Elbow: Biceps Tendon Reattachment, Ulnar or Radial Collateral Ligament Reconstruction.

Device Story

SpiraLok Anchor is a PLA threaded suture anchor preloaded on a disposable inserter assembly. Device facilitates fixation of two strands of suture to bone to reattach soft tissue. Suture options include Ethibond (non-absorbable), Panacryl (absorbable), and Orthocord (composite), potentially with tapered needles. Used by surgeons in clinical settings to secure soft tissue to bone, allowing natural healing. Device provides mechanical fixation; suture holds tissue in place during the healing process.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only.

Technological Characteristics

Material: PLA (polylactic acid). Design: Threaded suture anchor. Delivery: Preloaded on a disposable inserter assembly. Function: Mechanical fixation of soft tissue to bone via suture. Sterilization: Not specified.

Indications for Use

Indicated for soft tissue-to-bone fixation in shoulder (rotator cuff, biceps, AC joint), foot/ankle (stabilization, Achilles), knee (collateral ligaments, IT band), and elbow (biceps, collateral ligaments) repairs.

Regulatory Classification

Identification

A smooth or threaded metallic bone fixation fastener is a device intended to be implanted that consists of a stiff wire segment or rod made of alloys, such as cobalt-chromium-molybdenum and stainless steel, and that may be smooth on the outside, fully or partially threaded, straight or U-shaped; and may be either blunt pointed, sharp pointed, or have a formed, slotted head on the end. It may be used for fixation of bone fractures, for bone reconstructions, as a guide pin for insertion of other implants, or it may be implanted through the skin so that a pulling force (traction) may be applied to the skeletal system.
