Intended Use

TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. This TENS system is used to provide symptomatic pain relief for chronic, acute or post-operative pain. For the EMS function, the NMS-28 is used for: Relaxation of muscle spasm; Increasing local blood circulation; Muscle re-education; Prevention or retardation of disuse atrophy; Prevention of venous thrombosis of the calf muscles immediately after surgery; Maintaining or increasing range of motion

Device Story

EasySTIM NMS-28 is a portable, dual-channel, battery-operated device combining TENS and EMS functions. It features a large LCD, adjustable frequency/pulse width/timing, 9 modes, and a doctor lock facility. Input is via user-selected settings; device transforms these into electrical stimulation pulses delivered through electrodes. Used in clinical or home settings; operated by patients or clinicians. Output is electrical stimulation for pain relief or muscle stimulation. Mechanical integrity prevents simultaneous TENS/EMS operation. Benefits include pain management, muscle re-education, and circulation improvement. Device is non-volatile and includes open circuit detectors.

Clinical Evidence

Bench testing only. Includes risk analysis, FMEA, and performance testing to verify output energy within safety ranges. Post-market feedback from two years of European market experience indicates the device performs as intended.

Technological Characteristics

Portable, dual-channel, battery-operated (2 AA alkaline) electrical stimulator. Features LCD display, open circuit detection, and non-volatile memory. Software-controlled pulse parameters (frequency, width, timing). Mechanical interlock prevents simultaneous TENS/EMS output. Class II device.

Indications for Use

Indicated for patients requiring symptomatic relief of chronic, acute, or post-operative pain (TENS) or muscle re-education, relaxation of muscle spasms, increased local blood circulation, prevention/retardation of disuse atrophy, prevention of post-surgical venous thrombosis of calf muscles, and maintenance/increase of range of motion (EMS).

Regulatory Classification

Identification

A powered muscle stimulator is an electrically powered device intended for medical purposes that repeatedly contracts muscles by passing electrical currents through electrodes contacting the affected body area.
