Intended Use
For photocoagulation during ophthalmic surgery. This device delivers laser energy to target tissue, causing coagulation. Spot size can be varied by altering the distance between the tissue and the probe tip.
Device Story
Innovatech Straight Laser Probe is an ophthalmic laser delivery device used during surgery. It does not generate or intensify energy; it acts as a conduit for laser energy from an existing external laser source to target ocular tissue. The device consists of an aluminum connector, a glass silica core optical fiber with a PVC jacket, a Delrin handpiece, and a 304 stainless steel 20-gauge needle. Operated by a physician, the probe is used to perform photocoagulation by delivering laser energy to tissue; the spot size is adjusted by varying the distance between the probe tip and the target tissue. The device is provided sterile via ETO sterilization. It benefits patients by enabling precise, targeted coagulation during ophthalmic procedures.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only. No clinical data provided.
Technological Characteristics
Materials: 304 stainless steel needle, Delrin handpiece, silica core glass fiber, PVC jacket, aluminum connector. Energy: Passive laser delivery (up to 1 watt).
