The ANS® A127 Lead Extension is designed to be utilized as the lead extension component of a spinal cord stimulation system (SCS) and is indicated for spinal cord stimulation in the treatment of chronic pain of trunk and limbs, either as the sole mitigating agent, or as an adjunct to other modes of therapy used in a multidisciplinary approach.
Device Story
The A127 Lead Extension is a passive implantable component designed to connect spinal cord stimulation (SCS) leads to an implantable pulse generator (IPG). It serves as an intermediary bridge to extend the reach of the lead within the body. The device is used by neurosurgeons or pain management specialists during surgical implantation procedures. It does not process data or contain active electronics; it functions as a physical conduit for electrical stimulation signals delivered from the IPG to the lead electrodes. By extending the lead, it allows for optimal placement of the stimulation system components, facilitating the delivery of therapeutic electrical pulses to the spinal cord to manage chronic pain.
Clinical Evidence
Bench testing only.
Technological Characteristics
Passive implantable lead extension. Designed for electrical connectivity between SCS leads and pulse generators. Dimensions and materials are consistent with standard implantable neurostimulation hardware. No active electronic components, software, or energy sources. Sterilization is required for surgical implantation.
Indications for Use
Indicated for patients suffering from chronic pain of the trunk and limbs, requiring spinal cord stimulation as a primary or adjunctive therapy.
Regulatory Classification
Identification
An implanted spinal cord stimulator for pain relief is a device that is used to stimulate electrically a patient's spinal cord to relieve severe intractable pain. The stimulator consists of an implanted receiver with electrodes that are placed on the patient's spinal cord and an external transmitter for transmitting the stimulating pulses across the patient's skin to the implanted receiver.

Dear Ms. Moza:
We have reviewed your Section 510(k) premarket notification of intent to market the device referenced above and have determined the device is substantially equivalent (for the indications for use stated in the enclosure) to legally marketed predicate devices marketed in interstate commerce prior to May 28, 1976, the enactment date of the Medical Device Amendments, or to devices that have been reclassified in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Food. Drug, and Cosmetic Act (Act) that do not require approval of a premarket approval application (PMA). You may, therefore, market the device, subject to the general controls provisions of the Act. The general controls provisions of the Act include requirements for annual registration, listing of devices, good manufacturing practice, labeling, and prohibitions against misbranding and adulteration.
If your device is classified (see above) into either class II (Special Controls) or class III (PMA), it may be subject to such additional controls. Existing major regulations affecting your device can be found in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21, Parts 800 to 898.
