Device Story

BIOPATCH is an absorptive foam dressing impregnated with chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG), an antiseptic agent. Applied by clinicians at percutaneous insertion sites (e.g., central venous or arterial catheters, drains, orthopedic pins). The dressing absorbs exudate while the CHG provides antimicrobial and antifungal activity to the skin surrounding the insertion site. Used in clinical settings to reduce local infection, catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSI), and skin colonization. Benefits include reduced infection risk for patients with percutaneous devices.

Clinical Evidence

Controlled, randomized clinical trial with 687 subjects and 1699 catheter insertion sites. Results: 44% reduction in local infection (p ≤ 0.0001); 60% reduction in CRBSI (p = 0.026); statistically significant reduction in skin colonization (p ≤ 0.05). No serious device-related adverse events reported.
